WARRANTY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY, USE AND MAINTENANCE OF OSMO LAYERS – OIL WAXES
General information
Load-bearing layers covered with Osmo system are characterised by high resistance to ongoing dirt (dirt from shoes, stains etc.). Osmo layers constitute a technologically advanced mixture of natural oils (linen, sunflower, thistle, soya) and hard natural herbal waxes (carnauba, candelilla). Pigments used in Osmo colouring products can be applied in foodstuffs industry, which means that they are fully natural and ecological. Our products are ideally protected but this does not relieve the user from the duty to perform maintenance works. The largest threat to oil-wax layers is sand under the weight of human body since the external layer is very hard and therefore the floor is prone to scratches. Hence, proper maintenance of the surface is of key significance in using Osmo layers. Our maintenance works consist in refilling the layers of hard waxes (carnauba, candelilla) which are subject to the tearing of the surface. Floors covered with this system are highly durable and the maintenance system is complete and easy to use.
Assembly
ANTIQUE PARQUETS products are ready for assembly and specially protected against adverse environment conditions. Humidity: 9±2%. Nonetheless, they should be protected against moisture, extreme temperatures and direct exposure to the sun. The board should be accommodated to room temperatures – depending on the season for 1 to 7 days (CAUTION: PACKAGES WITH BOARDS MUST NOT BE OPENED). Before assembly inspect the delivered material and notify the seller on any damage or irregularities. Assembling the floor with faulty material results in failure to recognise warranty claims. The condition for recognising a warranty claim is the assembly solely by a specialist parquet company (assembly works protocols are required). Assembly works can be initiated when the temperature in the room oscillates between 18 – 22 Celsius degrees and at the humidity of 45 – 60%. Next, inspect the ground onto which the parquet floor is to be assembled. It should be solid, even, smooth, free of scratches and cracks, with proper humidity that allows for assembling wood (max CM up to 2% for cement surfaces). Resistance to detaching – minimum 1 MPa; resistance to compression – minimum 25 MPa. The manufacturer only allows for glues that are recommended by manufacturers of glues for prefinished varnished wooden floors. In floor assembly preserve expansion gaps at walls, doors or joining with tiles or terracotta. Floor assembly entails the application of proper floor chemical agents. It is recommended to obtain information from the supplier of floor chemical agents whether there are no contraindications against the application of such products. The producer recommends performing initial maintenance before first use.
CAUTION:
USE
Wooden floors are a natural and hygroscopic product that changes its properties together with changing conditions in the environment. Room temperature of 18-22 Celsius degrees and the humidity of 45-60% ensure the best conditions both for wooden floors and a man. Higher humidity leads to the swelling of wood and threatens with damage to the material, lower temperature, on the other hand, leads to drying and the creation of smaller or bigger cracks. The working of the wood may be limited by preserving recommended conditions (e.g. by means of humidifiers in winter, air conditioners with a drying function in wet seasons of the year) but it is not possible to eliminate them completely. Natural work of wood and adjustment of the material to the surrounding conditions cannot constitute a reason for raising a claim.
Recommendations for ongoing and seasonal maintenance:
- After coating the surface with Osmo layers (including as well first maintenance with the use of Wax Care and Cleaning Agent 3029) for 10 days, avoid covering the floor with a carpet or polythene foil (if necessary, cover it with corrugated cardboard).
- Ensure the air circulation in the room (the process begins by means of oxidation with oxygen).
- Avoid wet cleaning Osmo surfaces before the lapse of 10 days from layer coating (even with clean water).
- You may perform first maintenance (Wax Care and Cleaning Agent 3029) not earlier than after 10 days upon Osmo coating (including first maintenance with the use of Wax Care and Cleaning Agent 3029).
- You may walk on the surfaces already on the day following the coating, but remember not to use them intensively (e.g. moving furniture or walking in hard shoes).
- Protect furniture with a system of felt pads.
- Put specialist protective mats under armchairs with wheels.
- Apply a system for dirt catching (door mats e.g. before and after entering the facility / house). A properly designed doormat system should include 3 cleaning zones: roughing, intermediary and drying. In public use, the dirt catching system should include minimum 2.5 running metres of the cleaning passage).
- Always remove on ongoing basis sand, dust, stains after beverages, greases, detergents etc. from Osmo surfaces (vacuum cleaner, cloth, mop).
- Separate rubber elements of household equipment or objects from Osmo layers (the layers may react to rubber).
- For everyday cleaning use agent Wisch Fix 8016 (according to the maintenance sheet). Always clean the floor with a humid but not soaked mop (immediately remove excess moisture with a dry cloth).
- Remove local intensive dirt with Wax Care and Cleaning Agent 3031 or Wax Renovation and Cleaning Agent 8016 (according to the maintenance sheet).
- Any visible damage is nothing more than scratches in hard wax layers that should be eliminated by means of applying Wax Care and Cleaning Agent 3029 (according to the maintenance sheet). For household use perform this activity several (1-2) times a year (in case of visible damage – or the appearance of the so-called passage marks). For public use apply this product once a week (this treatment may be performed by the user or a parquetry company).
- During renovation works protect the floor against damage (e.g. with corrugated cardboard).
- Deep damage to Osmo layers should be delicately sanded with paper of 120 in granulation, next dust them off and put (e.g. with a cloth) an oil wax adequate to the applied one (e.g. 3032 or other) in proper number of layers.
- Matt abraded and slightly damaged Osmo layers should be refreshed with Osmo Regeneration Wax: 3079 Farblos matt for matt floors or 3081 Farblos für seidenmatt (according to the maintenance sheet).
- APPLYING AGENTS OTHER THAN THOSE MENTIONED INTO MAINTENANCE MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LAYER.

Recommendations for ongoing and seasonal maintenance:
- Protect furniture with a system of felt pads, occasionally clean them from piling up dirt.
- Put specialist polycarbonate protective mats under armchairs with wheels.
- Apply a system for dirt catching (door mats e.g. before and after entering the facility / house). In public use, the dirt catching system should include minimum 2.5 running metres of the cleaning passage.
- Always remove on ongoing basis sand and dust from the floor surface (vacuum cleaner, cloth, mop).
- For everyday cleaning use agents for varnished layers (e.g. L93 Everclear,L94). Purchase floor cleaning agents only in specialist floor selling salons. Avoid using generally available cleaning agents.
- While moving furniture, it should be borne, not dragged.
- During renovation works protect the floor against damage (e.g. with corrugated cardboard).
- Recommended room conditions: relative humidity should be preserved at 45-60% and temperature from 18 to 22°C.
